Want to transform the financial industry?  Abra is working on the world's first multi-currency, multi-crypto mobile wallet that lets you buy, sell, hold, and send fiat and crypto currencies all in the palm of your hand.

Position Overview

In this role, you will not only support the creation of a cohesive design system, you will bring the app to life using delightful, yet thoughtful animations and motion design. This role is not just an internship - you will be treated like a full-time member of the Abra team and given the opportunity to contribute directly to the app's success. You will learn the end-to-end design process and work collaboratively with product, UX, and engineers alike. You will have a long-lasting impact on the efficiency and scalability of the UX team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct ongoing competitive and comparative analyses to understand the broader cryptocurrency and financial investing markets
  • Collaborate closely with UX, marketing, and customer service to gather user data (including user testing) and define target user personas
  • Translate the short term and long term vision for the product into thoughtful design pattern wireframes that will form the framework for the design system
  • Define animations and transitions of the app that make it delightful, intuitive to our target users, and aligned to our design principles
  • Support user testing of your own designs to get real feedback from customers

Valued Skills and Requirements
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team, communicating early and often
  • Experience designing UI for mobile apps
  • Strong familiarity Apple's HIG and Material Design
  • A love for consistency, efficiency, and delivering value through UI
  • Ability to share and champion your ideas in a cross-functional team
  • Understanding and appreciation of how UI, app animations and transitions, and overall interaction design play a critical role in the mobile app
  • Ability to dive into the details, while still maintaining a view of the bigger picture. Ability to see trends in elements and components used in the app and turn them into a cohesive design system
  • Willingness to speak up to provide recommendations

An interest in cryptocurrencies, blockchains, and/or financial investing is a plus, but not required.

This is a full-time, paid internship position in Mountain View, California.  Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not possible at this time.  Travel, housing and other benefits are not provided.  We're looking for someone available, ideally, between May and September, but exact dates are flexible.
